2026 Nucleus Hive Deposit – 5 Frame Nuc Reservation

We are selling our spring 2026 Nucleus hives for $225! Pick up will be held at our yard in Sedalia, CO on June 25th, 2026.

STEP 1: Secure Your Hive

All 5-frame nucleus hive purchases require either a $50 non-refundable deposit or full payment to reserve your bees on the truck. Reserving early ensures availability for Denver, Colorado Springs, and Steamboat Springs pickup locations.

 

STEP 2: Submit Your Contact Form & Relax.

Please download and complete the contact form with your phone number and email. Once it is complete, please return it by email or text to ensure that we can contact you with pick up details and updates. This helps us keep distribution smooth and stress-free for both new and experienced beekeepers.

 

STEP 3: Pickup Day

We will confirm the final pickup date two weeks in advance once weather and colony readiness are finalized.

For customers who placed a deposit, remaining balances can be paid at pickup via cash, Venmo, Zelle, Apple Pay, or credit card.

Bring a gently used nucleus box at pickup for a 5% discount. Boxes must be clean and functional — condition will be verified onsite.

 

Pickup Policy

During the summer season, pickup will only be available in Denver. However, we do offer hive drop off outside of metro Denver for an additional fee. Please reach out for further details and pricing if you would like the hive to be delivered outside of the locations listed.

 

Please arrange transportation ahead of time. If you can’t attend, a friend or family member may pick up for you (honey bribery strongly encouraged 😉).

Customers will be notified two weeks prior when nucs are confirmed ready.

 

Payment & Sales Tax Information

Live honey bees are classified as agricultural livestock and are not subject to Colorado state sales tax.

    Shipping live colonies is stressful on bees and risky in Colorado’s climate. We focus on healthy local pickup to ensure your hive arrives strong and ready to grow.

    What comes with a 5-frame nuc from 5280 Apiaries?

    Each nucleus hive includes:

    • A gentle Italian hybrid laying queen

    • 3 Frames of capped and open brood

    • 1 Frame of food resources like honey and pollen

    Colonies are monitored for up 6 weeks before pickup to ensure proper queen performance and stability.
